(Aug. 23/12) Newfoundland and Labrador has created a Review Committee to look at its minimum wage, and is accepting operator feedback until Sept. 15, 2012.
The current wage stands at $10/hour. Operators are concerned by the prospect of future increases due to the labour-intensive nature of the restaurant industry, and the increase in minimum wage by more than 67 per cent over five years (between 2005 and 2010).
