Manitoba election wrap up
(Oct. 17/11) On Oct. 4, Manitobans re-elected Premier Greg Selinger and the provincial NDP to a fourth majority.
As a government with an increased legislative majority, restaurateurs can expect a continuation of the Doer-Selinger era – which includes minimum wage increases every fall and an unwillingness to consider the adoption of training or tip-differential wages. However, CRFA will press government to:
- change antiquated liquor regulations;
- eliminate the provincial payroll tax;
- lower personal taxes;
- take action on labour shortages; and
- reduce red tape.
