CRFA challenges wage increase in PEI poverty strategy


(Aug. 15/11) In CRFA’s response to PEI’s Poverty Reduction Strategy, we took issue with the suggestion to increase minimum wage as a means to reduce poverty. CRFA emphasized that PEI’s minimum wage must be held at its current level – increasing it only hurts small businesses and won’t alleviate poverty. Instead, CRFA recommended reducing poverty by generating employment opportunities, with specific suggestions.
