A win for members! CRFA action squashes $10,000 ATM fee
(Nov. 11/11) CRFA met with Revenue Quebec to challenge unfair restaurant ATM fees, designed to curb fiscal evasion. For each ATM, Revenue Quebec proposed operators:
- pay a $10,000 fee; and
- purchase an annual permit valued at $350.
The results
CRFA argued that restaurants should not be penalized for providing ATMs to better service patrons. Following our discussion, Revenue Quebec cancelled the $10,000 ATM fee and reduced the annual permit cost to $200.
