Saskatchewan’s budget impacts beverage alcohol

(Mar. 26/10) Saskatchewan’s 2010 budget announced an increased shelf price for many beverage alcohol products.  For example:

Overall, Saskatchewan’s 2010 budget is significantly different from last year’s. The most prominent announcement was the government’s intention to eliminate 4% of the public sector workforce in each of the next four years.  The government also reduced overall spending for the foreseeable future, cutting expenditures in 14 ministries.  And based on last year’s revenue underestimations, the government has revised many of its projections for 2010 – 2011.

Noticeably absent was any reference to sales tax harmonization, a move Premier Brad Wall says his government is not considering.
