Saskatchewan extends deadline for immigrant nominee program

(Apr. 01/10) To ensure employers understand recent changes made to the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program’s (SINP’s) Hospitality Sector Project, the province has extended its application deadline to April 30, 2010, and is offering information workshops.

Employers must now submit their Recruitment and Settlement Plan by April 30 for temporary foreign workers (TFWs) already in the province.  As of April 30, for a TFW to be eligible for the Hospitality Sector Project, the employer’s Recruitment and Settlement Plan must be approved by the SINP before that worker arrives in Canada.

Last year, the government of Saskatchewan announced changes to the Hospitality Sector Pilot Project, which affect operators who currently employ, or plan on employing, TFWs in any of the following National Occupation Codes (NOC):

The project allows TFWs who have been employed for six months in these occupations to apply for permanent residency through the SINP.  With CRFA’s support, the program was implemented to help address acute labour shortages in the foodservice industry.  For more information on SINP’s Hospitality Sector Pilot Project, click here.
