Ottawa extends deadline for G20 Summit claims
(Aug 24/10) A win for CRFA members!
In a win for CRFA members affected by the G20 Summit, the federal government has extended the deadline for claims to Nov. 17, 2010.
Restaurants can submit claims for loss of business due to the Summit’s security measures if:
- those losses occurred between 5 p.m. on June 25 and midnight on June 27; and
- their business was located inside the security perimeter or the part of the city’s downtown core designated as the “external affected area.” Click here for a map of the qualifying areas.
The government has not closed the door on compensation for other areas of the city. Officials will consider well-documented and supported claims outside the eligible zones and just before or after the qualifying period.
