CRFA’s Luc Erjavec (left) and CRFA Director Brenda O’Reilly met with Hon. Derrick Dalley, Newfoundland Minister of Tourism and Culture in February 2012. CRFA was invited to an Economic Roundtable on Atlantic Canada with Defence Minister Peter MacKay in January 2012. CRFA’s Luc Erjavec stressed the value of the foodservice industry to the economic and social fabric of the region and the need for policies that will help grow us grow.
   
On the campaign’s opening day, CRFA Director Liam Dolan and a number of operators hosted Premier Ghiz. This event gave the industry an opportunity to raise its concerns and hear directly from the Premier. Quebec

CRFA hosted members and ministers at a Quebec City reception in the fall of 2011, providing a forum for operators to discuss issues with government officials. Ontario

Raising restaurant issues in Ontario
CRFA’s Stephanie Jones discussed Ontario’s restaurant industry concerns with PC Leader Tim Hudak.
CRFA is working with all parties as they prepare their campaign platforms the election. CRFA has also leveraged the Liberal leadership race to raise the restaurant industry’s profile with the candidates.
CRFA meets with Ottawa Mayor
Ottawa’s Mayor Jim Watson met with CRFA on Aug. 22, 2012, to discuss the size, scope and economic contributions of the city’s restaurant industry, and key issues. CRFA President Garth Whyte, Chair Donna Dooher and VP Ontario and Sustainability Stephanie Jones (pictured left to right here) also screened the “I am a Restaurant” video. Mayor Watson will welcome CRFA Board Members to Ottawa this fall. As host city to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario meetings and Canada’s national capital, Ottawa is a critical partner for CRFA at all levels of government.

Manitoba-Saskatchewan

CRFA’s Dwayne Marling (left) meets with Minister responsible for MLCC Jim Rondeau to push for a rewrite of Manitoba’s liquor legislation – one that would result in less red tape and create a better business climate for restaurateurs.
