MEDIA ADVISORY
February 27, 2012
OTTAWA – The Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) will appear before the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-food today, calling for the government to address problems with supply management in the chicken and dairy sectors as they develop a new agri-food policy.
WHAT: As part of the federal government’s review of Growing Forward 2, a federal-provincial framework on the future of agriculture and agri-food policy, CRFA will highlight how current poultry and dairy policies drive up prices, stifle innovation and create unfair competition among buyers.
WHEN: Feb. 27, 2012, 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: Room 268, La Promenade Building, 151 Sparks St.
WHO: Justin Taylor, CRFA Vice President Labour and Supply.
CRFA launched the Free Your Milk campaign (www.freeyourmilk.ca) last fall to draw attention to the 40-year-old supply management policies responsible for inflating the cost of dairy in Canada to double the international market average.
